On May 9th of 2024, we launched Georgina's first and only Free Little Seed Library!
The Free Little Seed Library at Sage's Cove in Keswick (Georgina) Ontario offers free herb, vegetable, fruit, and Ontario Native plant seeds.
Within the first two months of launching, we estimate that over 9,000 seeds have been shared through the Free Little Seed Library at Sage's Cove!
The Free Little Seed Library at Sage's Cove began to take on a life of its own shortly after its launch - community members began sharing not only seeds through the library, but also plants and bouquets of flowers from their gardens too. In fact, we ended up with SO many shared plants, we were able to donate many of them to various charitable fundraisers within the community!
At the end of June 2024, and with the help of Zehrs Keswick, Sage's Cove sponsored a free Native Ontario Wildflower giveaway. Over 80 plants were given out for free to be planted in pollinator gardens throughout York Region and Toronto by community members looking to support wildlife and pollinators.
By the end of the September 2024, Sage's Cove has given out over 110 free Native Ontario plants - and we hope to have many more available for next spring.
We want to extend our gratitude to everyone taking part in the Free Little Seed Library - our community is truly amazing!
Seeds come in and out of the Free Little Seed Library quickly and our inventory is constantly changing so we can't guarantee what is listed here will be available when you arrive.
If there is something specific you are looking for - please feel free to contact us to see if we have it on hand.

Farmer's Almanac Planting Calendar
A comprehensive guide to planting vegetables, fruit, and herbs in your garden based on your postal code.
Most Ontario Native plant seeds need cold, moist stratification in order to break their dormancy and germinate. The easiest way to do this is to sow them in the fall, this way they will be exposed to cold temperatures, temperature fluctuations, rain and snow.
Here is a guide from the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library on how to winter sow.
